4. Responsibility
Gestalt is rooted in the concept of Existential Responsibility - incorporating autonomy, choice, freedom, and the power to change direction, at any moment. We focus on the ownership of experience, and pay careful attention to language that reflects a

5. Contact

6. Contact Boundary Phenomenon
We understand the dimnishing of contact - and thus ability to function as well as quality of life - as being related to Contact Boundary Phenomenon. In old language the word ‘Resistance’ was used; in Gestalt we prefer to observe the dynamics of Conta

Why this website?
by Steve Vinay Gunther
I have been practicing Gestalt since 1985. My passion and appreciation of the Gestalt approach has only increased over time.
I love teaching Gestalt, firstly through 17 years of my institute in Australia, and now 22 years of teaching internationally.
I believe that ultimately Gestalt needs to be taught face to face, and for that reason I have listed institutes around the world (including mine in China) where you can do that.
For those students studying Gestalt or counselling, the units on this website can be a useful adjunct.
For practicing professionals, these courses may be interesting and relevant for understanding how Gestalt may fit into your current practice.
I have created three pricing levels, making the courses accessible to as many people as possible from around the world. Students get free access to certain materials. My aim is to support learning and growth, and the development and integration of Gestalt theory and practice.
